What an Impact Rating Does and Does Not Say
An impact classification describes how a product performed in a defined test. It does not establish that a roof is hail-proof or that every storm will leave it undamaged. Roof geometry, exposure, installation and the actual event still matter.
Insurance discounts are insurer- and policy-specific. A product’s tested classification does not by itself establish a discount or insurance coverage. Material warranty coverage also has its own terms.

No. A material warranty addresses the covered product under its terms. A flashing defect, installation issue or excluded damage can fall outside that coverage.
Can an old shingle be replaced with any new shingle?
No. Dimensions, construction, fastening, appearance and the surrounding condition all affect a compatible repair.
