A limited repair
A serviceable gutter with an isolated joint, hanger or outlet problem can have a repair option. The repair needs sound support and a suitable discharge path.

Water needs a path off the roof and away from the building. Overflowing gutters, a damaged eave or a problem at the downspout outlet need the whole route checked.
Free roof inspections. Repairs, replacements and commercial roof help.
A gutter can spill because debris blocks an outlet, the pitch does not carry water properly or its capacity does not fit the roof area it serves. A roof-edge detail can also let water pass behind the gutter rather than into it. Those causes need different work.
We consider the gutter, hangers, joints, fascia and the roofing edge together. Replacing a gutter over deteriorated wood or leaving a faulty drip-edge connection can preserve the cause of the problem.
Describe the gutter problem
The material condition and water path determine the scope.
A serviceable gutter with an isolated joint, hanger or outlet problem can have a repair option. The repair needs sound support and a suitable discharge path.
Extensive corrosion, damaged sections, inadequate capacity or persistent pitch problems can call for replacement with appropriate supports and outlets.
Rotten fascia, failed edge flashing or damaged decking needs its own repair. A new gutter does not restore the roof structure behind it.
The work should follow water beyond the roof edge.
| Connection | What it does |
|---|---|
| Eave and gutter | Direct roof runoff into the gutter without trapping water behind the fascia. |
| Gutter slope and supports | Carry collected water to outlets while supporting the gutter’s shape. |
| Downspout and discharge | Move water to a suitable outlet and drainage path beyond the building. |
| Ground or approved system | Account for the downstream route rather than ending the plan at the bottom elbow. |
Liberty’s adopted dwelling-code amendment addresses roof-drainage discharge at least three feet from foundation walls or into an approved drainage system. The actual site still determines the suitable route, without directing water onto a neighboring property.
Water gathering beside a wall and water remaining on a roof are different observations. The drainage planner helps put the symptom and roof type into the right inspection conversation.
Use the drainage planner
No. Guards do not correct an unsuitable pitch, too few outlets, damaged support or a problem behind the gutter. The cause of overflow needs checking before choosing an accessory.
Gutters are a separate scope unless they are included in the actual project. Their condition, removal needs and roof-edge connection should be addressed in that conversation.
Run lengths, height, access, corners, outlets, material and support repairs affect the work. A fascia repair or downstream drainage change adds work beyond the gutter itself.
